Pipeline Resistance

Energy East & Line 9

As part of our continued work with the local resistance, we endorsed and directly supported DecLine 9 Ottawa and Occupied Ottawa in opposition to TransCanada’s “Energy East” project. An article about the Resistance Tour can be found here. After this story was published on-line, it had more views than any other thing on that site–ever. In fact, reps from TransCanada themselves read it. They told us. They are keenly interested in any and all negative press. In Stittsville we were joined by The Council of Canadians, Ecology Ottawa, SaveCanada and a lot of other concerned people.

This year, as a part of SAA’s May Day event, resistance to all oil pipelines (including Enbridge’s Line 9) is second on our list of “demands.”  As it was being made at a facilitated general assembly, and consensus was clear on our two main objectives, one member aptly put it: “Mail not oil.” #tarfree613
